Ancient Deegawapiya
Sacred Buddhist stupa and pilgrimage site built in the 2nd century BC by King Saddatissa. Believed to enshrine relics of Lord Buddha. Part of the 16 most sacred places in Sri Lanka. Currently undergoing restoration after centuries of decline and war damage.

π Legends & Stories
Visited by Lord Buddha during his third visit to Sri Lanka, accompanied by 500 Arahants. First developed as a temple by King Kavantissa. Site fell into ruin during colonial period and was rediscovered in 1916.
