Located about 3 km from Kandy via Pushpadana Road. It is 650 feet above Kandy town and features an 88-foot standing Buddha statue overlooking the Dalada Maligawa. A site of religious and cultural importance to Buddhists.

📖 Legends & Stories
Associated with the demon/deity 'Bhairava'. Legends include tales of animal and human sacrifices. The most known story is of Welikala Menike, a ‘virgin’ sacrifice who was rescued by her lover Lunuwila Nilame. The demon was later revealed to be the King’s Chief Purohitha, ending the sacrificial rituals and prompting reforms in the kingdom.
