Dambakola Patuna Viharaya (Samudrasanna Viharaya / Port of Jambukola)
Buddhist temple built to commemorate the arrival of the Boβsapling brought by Arahant Sangamitta in the 3rd century BC. Originally at an ancient port (Jambukola / Samudra Pattana) in northern Jaffna. The temple was rebuilt in the 11th century by King Vijayabahu I. The original Boβtree and ancient structures are gone; present structures include a new stupa, young Boβtree, and temple buildings.

According to chronicles (Mahavamsa), the Bo sapling arrived by sea; the port received pilgrims from far off (βYonakaβ country). The temple was one of the first places to receive one of the first eight shoots of the Sri Maha Bodhi tree.
