Dunhinda Falls
About This Place
Dunhinda Falls
A stunning waterfall located about 5 km from Badulla town, rising 64 meters high. The waterfall is fed by the Badulu Oya river and is known for its misty spray that resembles smoke ("Dun" in Sinhala), giving it its name. Also called Bridal Fall due to the waterfall's veil-like appearance. To reach the falls, visitors walk about 1 km through a scenic path featuring wildlife such as birds, butterflies, monkeys, and deer. There is a smaller waterfall, Kuda Dunhinda, along the way. Local vendors offer homemade drinks. Visitors can reach the base by crossing a stream but should avoid getting too close or bathing due to slippery rocks and deep water. The falls are most impressive between November and March when water volume is highest.
