Originally established as the catchment for Senanayake Samudraya, Sri Lanka’s largest reservoir, this expansive park now spans 63,000 hectares. It's home to elephants, leopards, deer, and over 150 bird species. The park features rare medicinal plants and diverse forest, shrub, and grassland biomes. Visitors can explore the Makara Kata (Dragon’s Mouth), a natural whirlpool, and Bird’s Island, a nesting site for raptors. Boat safaris offer an exceptional way to view wildlife and landscapes.
