Kotaveheragala
Hidden near Yalapotha village in Lahugala, Kotaveheragala is the site of an ancient temple perched on a rocky outcrop, with a ruined stupa made of bricks dating back to 3rd–1st century BC. A 150-step stone stairway leads to the summit, where views of the forest surround the ancient stupa.

📖 Legends & Stories
Believed to be the legendary Kotapabbatha Vihara, home to a novice monk who was later reborn as King Dutugamunu. A stone inscription mentions a monk who built the stairway — possibly the one from the legend.
