A diverse national park established under the Mahaweli development project as an elephant refuge and reservoir catchment area. Encompasses five reservoirs, lush biodiversity including ~200 elephants, and archaeological sites. Home to endemic and migratory bird species, mammals, and the indigenous Vedda people.
