Meemure
About This Place
Meemure
Meemure is one of the most secluded and scenic villages in Sri Lanka, nestled deep within the Knuckles Mountain Range. Known for its pristine natural beauty, traditional lifestyles, and untouched wilderness, Meemure is home to the iconic pyramid-shaped Lakegala Mountain, a focal point of both history and legend. The area is biologically rich, with endemic species of birds and freshwater fish in the nearby Knuckles Creek System. Traditional houses made of clay and Illuk (a type of grass) reflect sustainable living, and the village remains largely off-grid with no mobile coverage.
