π Legends & Stories
Ramboda Pass was historically a strategic mountain gateway used by Kandyan kings to defend the highlands. Local legend says the falls were formed when the god Saman struck the mountain with his lance to create a water source for pilgrims travelling to Adam's Peak. The tea estate surrounding the falls is one of the oldest in Sri Lanka, established by British planters in the 1870s.
